More Than Words

So, Barak Obama is going to be our next president. I can honestly say, I'm a little disappointed and not at all surprised. I know a few doomsayers who want to move out of the country because Obama has won; I'm not buying into that.

I believe that God is in control and knows what the future needs. It is by His hand that Obama was put in office. Now it is my responsibility to support my president and pray for him daily.

After watching Obama's speech last night, I couldn't help but feel that everything is going to be just fine under our new leader. His speech was very moving, very patriotic, and seemingly heartfelt.

I just hope it's more than words.

Words and language can move people. There is as much a science to it as there is an art. There are people spend their entire lives studying rhetorical devices that are used in speech to illicit an emotional response from the audience. If you can combine good speech writing with the use of the right rhetorical devices and put it in the hands of someone who can deliver it, you can convince people to do nearly anything.

Obama has that natural gift for speaking. He is, quite possibly, one of the most eloquent speakers I've ever seen. He knows how to use language and how to make a point.

If Obama truly meant what he said about moving forward, if he really wants what's best for this country and doesn't try to force a leftist agenda, if he is sincere in his love for this country, then, I agree, Yes We Can.

Pray for our new president. Pray for an open heart and an open mind.

Pray that it's more than just words.
