So, Barak Obama is going to be our next president. I can honestly say, I'm a little disappointed and not at all surprised. I know a few doomsayers who want to move out of the country because Obama has won; I'm not buying into that.
I believe that God is in control and knows what the future needs. It is by His hand that Obama was put in office. Now it is my responsibility to support my president and pray for him daily.
After watching Obama's speech last night, I couldn't help but feel that everything is going to be just fine under our new leader. His speech was very moving, very patriotic, and seemingly heartfelt.
I just hope it's more than words.

Ignorance is going to get us in trouble. Yesterday, I had someon comment on the McCain Palin sticker on my car. She looked me square in the eyes and said, "How can someone with an IQ over 12 vote for a Hockey Mom and an old guy?" Ignoring the personal insult, I told her I was not in favor of socialism, I don't like the idea of nationalized healthcare, according to the non-partisan budget committee McCain would spend less than Obama, and I simply think McCain is a better choice.
She looked dumbfounded. I asked her what she thought about Obama's economic policy and there was silence. I asked her about Obama's strategy for keeping the country safe and free from terrorism and, again, there was silence. She has no idea what Obama's policies are and she's accusing me of having a low IQ for making an informed decision.
Ignorance is going to destroy this country.

In the midst of my political frustration, I've had a number of people tell me that I should simply "vote my conscience." They tell me there are a number of good third party candidates out there that more closely represent my political and social values and I should vote for one of them.
I completely agree that there are candidates out there that have a platform and doctrine that I can nearly 100% support. Take Chuck Baldwin, for example. He seems like a great, upstanding guy. He shares a number of the same beliefs that I share, I like a lot of his ideas, and he has no chance of winning. That's right: No Chance.
In an ideal world, every candidate on the ticket would have an equal opportunity to win. Here's a newsflash for everyone out there: We don't live in an ideal world. We have a two party system here in America. Either a Republican or a Democrat is going to win the election and, though that is the root of most of our problems, it is not easily changed.
Here is why I'm logically against the idea of ‘voting your conscience.'

The election is in something like 27 days and I'm terrified. I honestly don't know what to do.
I love this country. I pray for our President and elected officials. I try to see the best in every situation, but the economy is a mess and no one seems to know what to do; the war seems to be caught in an infinite loop and no one can figure out how to gracefully break it; neither of the two candidates that I see running for President of the Greatest Nation on Earth seem very Presidential to me.
So what do you do when there is no good choice? What do you do when you are backed into a corner and see no path of escape?
